Le Macioche Brunello di Montalcino 2001
 |
|
BN#169785 |
Only 665 cases were made of this superb Brunello that spent 36 months in very large oak casks; a more traditional approach to barrel aging which gives the wine roundness, fullness, and softness with the characteristic spicy bark notes and high toned floral/fruity aromatics. "Le Macioche’s vineyards are among the highest elevation in Montalcino. These traditionally-made wines are defined by their well-articulated aromatics and firm tannins." -- The Wine Advocate
Wine Advocate
The estate's medium-ruby colored 2001 Brunello di Montalcino shows an expressive nose along with vibrant layers of sweet fruit on a medium-bodied, firmly structured frame with excellent length, fine, elegant tannins and a lively note of minerality that provides freshness on the finish. It should be at its best in a few years and drink well to age 15-20. A beautiful, finely nuanced, understated Brunello. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2019.
Score: 91.
